Auckland Basketball Services

Founded in 2012 by Basketball Auckland (BA) and Counties Manukau Basketball (CMBB) through a collaborative partnership agreement. ABSL is a limited liability company set up to deliver shared basketball services across the region.

The new entity would build on the strengths of each association, share resources and ensure that more resources were invested in to front line services - improved services & support for schools, coaches, officials, basketball leagues and basketball players. In addition, a key priority is to satisfy the huge demand and significant potential in a region with a growing youth population.

In 2013, the company was registered as a Charitable Company (CC48853), and, in 2016, Waitakere West Auckland Basketball joined ABS, further adding strength to the organisation. The amalgamation of the three associations (holding equal shares in ABS) now provides a strong, united voice for our basketball communities.

Men's League

ABS proudly sponsored by Etco and Mazda, bring you the Auckland Men's Adult Basketball Leagues.
There are four Adult leagues (social basketball competitions) to choose from across Auckland.
Adult leagues at Barfoot & Thompson Stadium (Kohimarama) run every THURSDAY.
Every league runs over a 10 week period.
Costs include: venue hire, venue controllers, glory league fees, referees and equipment and resources.
There are limited spaces in the leagues so make sure you get your registrations completed as soon as possible to secure your spot.

3x3 Miniball League

ABS Miniball Competitions run for 8 weeks each term (in line with official New Zealand school terms).
Miniball Compeitions are held at four venues: Barfoot & Thompson Stadium, Trust Stadium and Unitec Stadium.
Individuals are invited to enter once per term (Year 1 - Year 2).
Schools are invited to enter teams once per term (Year 3 - Year 8).
Online Registrations ONLY
We provide 20 mins of coaching before each game.

5x5 Miniball League
This league is a great place for intermediate-level players to develop their game in a fast-paced environment.

Auckland Jaguars Club
Auckland Jaguars caters for children of all ages looking to develop their basketball skills. The main focus of Club Night is on individual skills development including:

Ball Handling
Offensive Techniques
Defensive Techniques

Overall basketball fundamental skills
You will need to bring:

Plenty of water
Indoor Basketball/sport shoes

Suitable shorts and t-shirt/singlet for sport

Navigating the Stadium

ABS programmes are all held in the Main Stadium. Depending on Stadium events, the final hour of Jaguars on Fridays (6:30pm-7:30pm) are held in the Small Gym unless stated otherwise.
