Sparta Volleyball Club
Sparta Volleyball Club was founded by Ctirad (Ben) Benacek in 1954, thus making Sparta New Zealand's oldest volleyball club. In our heyday and through the experience, expertise and dedication of Ben Benacek, Sparta was undisputedly New Zealand's top volleyball club. Earning many national titles and top club players going on to represent New Zealand at international level.
Today, Sparta is still very active and services the community through our social volleyball competition on Tuesday evenings at the Barfoot & Thompson Stadium in Kohimarama.
Sparta is also still active at a competitive club level, fielding both Men's and Women's teams and holding regular team practices run by experienced and qualified coaches.
So, if you are looking to play good quality social games or more challenging competitive club matches, please make contact with our club secretary or simply show up on Tuesday evenings at the Stadium. Somebody there will point you in the right direction.
